I hear you. We always take our dogs to the same vet, but they did cooperate and we can save $30 per refill. Maybe you could call around and after one visit they would fax it in. Might be worth a few phone calls. Or maybe someone here can help out by suggesting a vet that will prescribe. |

I generally have no problems GETTING one from them, they will even MAIL them to me, I'm just wondering if I NEED one for this. |

Frontline Plus does not need a script, although they will probably need to create an account for you for billing purposes if it's a vet you've never been to.
Inteceptor (and all heartworm preventatives I believe) does indeed need a script. Any decent vet will do a HW test before prescribing as giving HW preventative to a dog who has an active HW infestation can be fatal. If they are willing to sell it without the test, run, do not walk, out the door. The only dogs they *may* prescribe HW prevative for without the blood test are those who are on HW preventative all year round. -- 11,490 DEADLY TERROR ATTACKS SINCE 9/11~~SARAH BRIGHTMAN SYMPHONY WORLD TOUR |

| That's what I thought..... there were TWO main reasons I brought Desmond to the vet the day after I got him. ONE was just a general check to make sure he was OK, and two was for the heartworm tests....
I had a dog DIE of heartworm back in the 70s, so I am well aware of the potential.
THANKS all. I thought they were crazy when they said that..... --
