[Connectivity] 70-100% LOSS Comcast w/Powerboost

Going on about a month now that I can't do anything with my HSI from Comcast aka Ventrilo / World of Warcraft / Counter-Strike because of complete lag outs every so often (10-20 min intervals) for about 20 seconds which either disconnect me from the game or ventrilo servers.

I have a brand new modem, brand new router in hopes that one of them was the problem, apparently not.

Line quality test from a few minutes ago:

»/linequality/4···/2409351

Can anyone suggest how I can go about fixing this problem with my Comcast, It's to the point where I can't use my cable for anything except web browsing and downloading files. I pay for HSI for gaming and as of a month ago I can no longer play without being constantly disconnected.

Everytime I contact a technician they tell me my modem is fine, and yes it does look like it's fine, but really it's not. I've been a happy customer for almost 5 years now.

Thanks.

What router? Not all are created equal and a cheap one will trash your internet connection. I used a d-link for about a week after my linksys wrt54gx was hit by lightning and it totally screwed my internet up. I thought my modem was damaged but it was the router all along. I replaced it with a linksys rvs4000 and took that pos back for a refund. Now my internet is back to normal for everyone on the network.

Alright so I went outside to where the line is connected from the poll to my house to find it directly connected to a 2 way splitter (Assuming one goes to my upstairs and one to my basement where my modem is connected). The one heading into my basement is literally floating inbetween a few sets of bushes and some grass and then into my house. It had been raining a few days here so this coax l line appears to be like dripping wet.

This is not a joke. I have never, ever touched this line, I barely ever go near the part of my house where it's connected to.

Could this line possibly be the reason why my internet has been total shit lately? Water logged or maybe even cut in some areas? Also, can I replace this line myself with some new cable and set it in an area it will be out of the weather and most likely stay dry?

Thanks!

You should be able to.
Just make sure the cable you buy is RG6 instead of the cheaper RG59.

OK! I decided to do a little more researching so I took my laptop and started walking down my street until I found an unsecured router which I connected to. It was Comcast, of course.

Connected to Ventrilo / World of Warcraft / Counter-Strike and played for about an hour with ZERO disconnects and had ping plotter on a 1 second interval to the ventrilo server I use, va.nationvoice.com - again, perfect ping throughout the entire time I was sitting on the curb stealing someones Comcast to compare it with mine about 5 houses down the street.

I think this proves that it's got to be a problem with a cable either from the poll to my house or from the splitter at my house going inside.

I'm going to attempt to replace the line tommorow myself hopefully I can get the job done.

Are you certain ? Did you perform a trace to confirm that you were routing through the CC network ?

I've done this before and found that the un-secured home network I was connecting to was a DSL connection which I swore was Comcast..
