Separate iPhone forum from ATM

The ATM (All Things Mac) forum has gone far beyond the Mac (computer related topics).
Lately (due to the release of the 3G iPhone) there are quite a number of iPhone related threads.
I think there is sufficient traffic for each separate product (Mac Computers and iPod/iPhone devices) to warrant the creation of a new Apple Handheld Forum (iPod/iPhone).
Either that, or change the name of the forum to ATA (All Things Apple).

How about a Samsung SGH-P850 forum for those of us who own this wonderful phone?
Or maybe a Motorola RAZR forum?

There is a cell phone forum currently on this site. Use it.

...Iphone threads go in cell phone forum,...
I guess that is how it is supposed to work, but right now iPhone threads are in the ATM forum. Just guessing, but if there was an iPhone forum, the traffic would go there.

There's a lot of iPhone topics now because it's a short-term popuar subject with the new 3G and 2.0 firmware. It's no different than when a new version of the OSX gets released or a new hot Apple product comes out.

It will go back to normal. If people are getting their panties that much in a bunch over some threads that they can easily opt not to read, perhaps the moderators can work harder towards limiting/consolidating threads on that subject. Long term, it just doesn't seem necessary to create a new forum though. There's just not enough traffic on ATM to warrant it, IMHO.

If ATM/OSX discussions were busier in general, I'd feel differently.

I do think if we keep it one forum, the name should be cahnged to "All things Apple".

If separated, make one forum for iPods, iPhones, Apple TVs and the like, and a separate forum for computers only.

Not a bad idea to direct all iPhone threads to CellPhones.

After all, usually you only find out after the 10th post that the guy is using Windows to interact with his iPhone.

While we're at it, all the posts that start "Hi, I just got a new iMac, opened the box, set it up, installed Boot Camp and Windows XP, and now IE7 won't work" should be sent to Microsoft Help.

Makes no sense. What if the problem is a config issue with parallels?

... glad my Macbook's keyboard cover is good for milk AND half-chewed Tater Tots!

The phone/ipod/next_gadget question is an interesting one. I'll have to ponder it for a bit.

I said Boot Camp. Anyone who says the first thing they did was install Boot Camp is someone I know is going to be likely to be demanding how to make Mac OS behave like Windows. "How can I make my program full screen? How come I can't cut and paste files? Can I get rid of the Dock/Menu Bar/etc? How come the program does not exit when I close the window?"

But - Parallels is third-party software, correct? Where do WIndows users go for third-party software? The "Software" forum!

I'll do it but not until I can make a 'sub forum' that is easier to find and navigate to.

I think it makes sense.

All Things Macintosh for Macs, OS, and software.

All Things Apple for iPods, iPhones, AppleTV, etc.

And maybe one more sub-forum: All Things Turtle

I'll check each daily. I have a Mac Pro and Mac Mini, and posts about those should be in ATM.

I have 60GB iPod Photo and a 3G iPod Nano with video, and will probably have an iPhone within a month or 2.

But right now, it's just too intermingled, especially with the iPhone stuff, which actually started more than a year before the first iPhone was announced with mgauss77 who was always posting about "when is Apple going to create an iPhone?" To his credit, he got the name right.
