Guild Wars "patches"?

I just started playing GW and was curious if there's a file or files that can be uploaded here and then installed on my computer so that I don't have to wait 30 minutes to play in another zone?

Basically, like many of you know, my internet here blows ... and blows, and blows, and keeps on blowing ...

So therefore it takes forever to d/l a zone, or a patch, or anything of the sort in any game.

TIA!

If you can commit to some time, like say when you're sleeping, make a shortcut to gw.exe with the -image switch, and run it. It'll download ALL of the content.

It should look something like this: "G:\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

EDIT: Right now my gw.dat's about 3.7GB large. That should at least give you an idea of how much it'll have to download in one go.

Erm I guess I'm more of a moron than I originally thought ... I just went to my GW folder and started the file labelled "Guild Wars Game Client Arenanet" because it was all that I could find near this description. Not a clue what you meant by the image on my puter though.

All I know of imaging is from the guys at the LAN center talking about this or that image of a game.

The file I started wants me to log in like the normal game play...

The image switch allows you to download all the zones at once. There's a file called gw.dat that gets updated. This file gets over 2GB large. My friend's is around 4GB, including all expansions.

Explain it to me like I'm a 4-year old please?

I can't find an image file. Or am I supposed to be making up a shortcut to a file that will connect for me?

Windows XP?

Click start, run and type the following - transcribe location of your GW folder to the real one, for example in Vista mine installed at c:\program files (x86)\Guild wars (including quotes):

"location of your GW folder\gw.exe" -image

Then do other things for a few hours while it update your data file.

Same for vista, however this time you can just click start and then type the same in the search/run bar

Takes about three hours for me to download a full Gw.dat file.
