On a recent visit to my sister-in-laws home in eastern NC, she had just purchased a new HD TV and was having Charter come out to swap out the cable box. She had complained about the lack of service they received from charter and I was surprised as I expected all cable companies provided about the same level of customer service. I have always been happy with Time-Warner in central NC. Anyway she was out when the 'Service Technician' arrived ..... what a joke .... I'm a male and was reluctant to let this guy in the house. Pants below his butt, he spoke in a way that made it very hard to understand him. His ability was that of a person trained to plug and play only. What a representative for a company to send ! After waiting 30 minutes for a signal he finally realized that the box must be called in to the office. What a joke, he wanted to borrow my cell phone to call his office. He called and after 30 minutes someone finally helped him out. Wow ..... I have had my issues with TW but almost feel blessed to live where I do now. |

Every area is different - even within the same company. While the TW guys i have seen and know (my BIL is a TW installer) - I won't let TW in my house anymore as in this areas the service is pretty bad from my direct 2-3 year experience with them. -- Brian

| reply to pitroad01 At one time, I had Comcast HSI. When the person came to install it, he was properly dressed, professional in his behavior, knowledgeable about what needed to be done and helpful. He was also a 3rd party contractor. I guess it is just the luck of the draw when it comes to installer / techs. Sometimes you hit the jackpot, sometimes the jackpot hits you. -- Atomic batteries to power - Turbines to speed - ready to move out. |

| reply to pitroad01 Luckily I have very little interaction with the cable company, but when I do I get the standard unpleasant experience that everybody is accustomed to (to put it nicely).
My main problem with the technicians is when they promise they'll be there within a three hour block but instead arrive outside of that three hour block. Then they set up another three hour block and arrive outside of that one as well. I live in the real world so a few minutes plus or minus is fine, but a three hour block plus or minus a half hour is a four hour block. |

| reply to pitroad01 Yea, I would have probably reacted the same way. When I used to have Dish Network, and they came out to my place, he had a polo shirt that had the company logo on it. I see a lot of TW technicians driving around my work, and they always have white dress collared shirts on. Maybe it is just your area? I live/work in Southern California. |

Just about the time you think you have seen/read it all (borrow your cellphone) Like this guy drives back to the office after each call?.....In this day & age? ADDED: Couldn't carry the company phone since he probably didn't wear a belt.....and had nothing to "clip it onto" |

| reply to pitroad01 People representing companies should expect to at least be presentable.
I would have told him to pull up his pants, comb his hair, and then made sure I got his name to bitch about it to your cable provider. They don't like this kind of thing. If it was third party, the organization who sent this guy would be in danger of losing their contract. |
