Just tried it and yes there are only 2 processes but if you notice the page file memory is alot higher as well as the commit charge. Don't like the toolbar either. Not that impressed. Went back to Avira Internet Security. Works better for me. -- VoicePulse 07/29/04 |

Alright, dumb question, but does this mean Symantec is hiding other "processes" in page file memory?? However in the past there has been at least one products that hid the entire process using rootkit type techniques. Don't want to take away from this thread but first of all it works as it is supposed to work. No elaborate changes to try and make it work. Very smooth on system and very light. I have updates set for every 2 hrs. Consistantly scores at the top for detection. Have had no conflicts with any other software on my system. There are many threads about Avira here and at Wilders. Check them out if you want to know more. -- VoicePulse 07/29/04 |

| reply to zteardrop Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see any way to configure the firewall. I saw where the firewall is listed on the GUI, but no configuration options. I then went to grc.com, and NIS 2009 failed the Shields Up test. I don't care too much for the new GUI either. |

| reply to zteardrop It's "blazingly fast !!", eh? At installing...
No offence, but I'll wait for a non-biased opinion on the subject. Plus a little more info on it's performance other than how good their installer package is... |

| reply to Graystoke NIS09 passes all of grc.com,pcflank.com tests by default config here and It is very light and fast on my slow P4 system! Application response time is good and i can open any application without any problems/lags/slowniness. The best thing about NIS09 to me is that theres not a lots of proccesses/services runnin and the performance is good on an old computer! |

| reply to zteardrop I love it how "4 days ago" is still a green OK status for age of definition files. When are they going to jump on the bandwagon of daily and hourly updates? |

| reply to zteardrop Caution,
Beta, Beta, Beta.
Installed in less than a minute,on a clean xpsp2 image,P3 768mb test box, ran fine for several hours then modules began crashing one by one, reboot brought every thing back ,surfing, etc. was quite fast, then BSOD and unable to boot, all attempts to repair no-go. Very unstable on this machine.Oh_well, maybe try next beta. |
