| [rant] iPhone and AT&T
When you buy the iPhone and activate it with AT&T you are supporting their policies. Its nice to want new gadgets and have the latest and greatest, I understand that. Is your personal freedom worth 200 bucks and some change? When you buy the iPone and activate you are supporting AT&T in their big brother policies, even if you don't think that you are. You are.
I know I will get ripped to shreds for this-but be please do not support AT&T even tho I know they are the only US carrier of the phone at the moment.
Thank you. |

Is your personal freedom worth 200 bucks and some change? Only if you get a free hot dog with the iPhone. Otherwise, no, my personal freedom isn't worth 200 bucks and some change. |

| reply to Fx4Life actually they are supporting terrible software from apple namely itunes. it is a horrible software program.
as for at&t and what it might have done before sbc bought them well that is just too bad. the NSA has been doing this stuff for literally DECADES and I don't see you rallying your battle cry against them. if you are not a terrorist or conspiring against the US then you have nothing to worry about do you? Trust me that nobody cares that you called your uncle Pedro in Guatemala five years ago. |

Me I dont get the iPhone because its an overhyped POS. Why does it need a PC to activate?
I played with one in a store once. It was in the web browser and I played with it for almost 10 minutes and could not get back to the home screen. Gee... my phone has a "HOME" button with a pretty picture of a house! How is removing all the buttons and making it so someone that just picks up your product can't even use it without training considered "user friendly?" It's like Microsoft re-releasing DOS 4.0 and hyping it as much as Apple has with their crap. -- 09:F9:11:02:9D:74:E3:5B:D8:41:56:C5:63:56:88:C0 |

| Of course I never stated that they were the only company - I only provided the answer to the question
A PC would not be needed if iTunes was working right - it would have been done within the AT&T store.
I have no need for over priced i anything... |

| reply to Fx4Life But still I don't understand what else beyond the SIM Card and data plan activation would be needed....
I mean if I have an AT&T SIM with a data plan why can't I just put that in the iPhone and start using it? WHy is further activation even required? -- 09:F9:11:02:9D:74:E3:5B:D8:41:56:C5:63:56:88:C0 |

| reply to Fx4Life We could go on and on about at&t and the wire tapping-they just got caught... and other companies will get caught doing other things.. it's not right but has been going on for years... I wouldn't single out one company..
I don't have a iPhone and not in a rush to get one but what it did was raise the bar. People are tired of having a phone that will do this and not do that, or having to buy an expensive 'business' style PDA phone to get alot. Heck I read something that said two thirds of Blackberry users are business/government users-you think they are going to rush to make more consumer phones. I'm just glad the Razer is old news and phones are taking different directions. The iPhone will continue to sell like it is until other companies get on the ball and start trying something new... |
