I obviously didn't go to line up, but I ordered one thru Customer Service. 16GB black, should have it tuesday or wednesday.

Mind ordering me one as well? 8GB will do fine thanks volty .

I can't afford $70+ per month for 3 years... that's too steep for a phone for me. I only wish I could .

I have no need for one. All I want from my phone is to have good signal and a good battery.

Therein are my requirements for a cellphone in a nutshell.

It's really just outrageous how I have to carry around this antique that I have with an ever-weakening battery (a nice big Li-ion, thankfully, so still pretty good) because there is no way you can get a new phone these days that's just a phone (i.e.- turn it on and talk into it). Christ, I don't want a camera, MP3 player, email appliance, web browser, GPS, dance partner, gaming console, personal valet, electric toothbrush, corkscrew, sewing machine, and personal vibrator all in one. I want a friggin' phone!!!

Tried.. Got a monthly plan at least, but they wanted COD for delivery so I'll have to wait until next week supposedly when they get more stock.

sure you can...in fact, Speakout Wireless is perfect for the casual user like yourself...basic phones, and cards that last one full year with no silly fees.

I saw on the news today that here in Ottawa, one Rogers store only had 42 in stock (whereas about 100+ lined up to buy one).

Way to live up to the hype, Ted!

well, everyone did say they were NOT going to buy one because the plans were not unlimited, so they have no one to blame but themselves.

I said I was not gonna get one with the plans they originally came out with... 400mb data with the basic plan... That was ridiculous...

But since the $30/6gb plan came out, I think that's pretty reasonable, knowing Ted's stance on unlimited.

They're neat... but I can't bring myself to it...

a) I have a treo... and I like it.

b) I have a nokia n800 handheld computer... between the two I have no need for an iphone...

c) if I really felt the need, I'd just get an ipod touch.

Now we wait 30 days and start seeing the iPhone billing horror stories to come in. That should be a fun read.

Can't wait to see all those iphonies reaction when the instict comes out with unlimited for $10/month in august/september.

There's a difference between a "casual" user and a user of voice wireless services who a) doesn't want the hassle of a prepaid plan, b) sometimes requires U.S. roaming -- don't know if these basic prepaid things do that, c) sometimes requires the use of analog services in remote areas, and d) sometimes racks up a huge amount of airtime. I don't think I'd be well served by the 7-11 kind of plan which really seems geared more to the teenager who chats with the girlfriend.

For the kind of money that a "serious" iphone user could end up shelling out - it should procure sexual favours for its owner on a regular and ongoing basis... good ones too, no hobo-handjobs or anything of that sort.

Trust me, it's only a matter of time before it becomes impossible to get a phone without that feature, and it becomes even more difficult to figure out how to just place a phone call (do not press the wrong button in a crowded restaurant! ). And somehow I just know that Rogers will figure out a way to get a per-second billing windfall out of that feature!
