| Imation--forget the service
I bought a 512MB flash drive on a lark about a year and a half ago at Target for a big $15. So it goes out. I send them an e-mail inquiring about the warranty, to which they respond five years. So I call for an RMA number. Well, even though they didn't even have the product five years ago they need a receipt! This is because the warranty is for only the original purchaser (isn't that Target? You legal beagles I'm sure remember MacPherson v. Buick Motor Co.). So I get a receipt. Well, they actually receive my fax and when I call they advise me it's 72 hours to send an e-mail (we are in the age of instant communication: I'm wondering, can they come up with anything else for this whopping $15 purchase?) Well, this was Monday and it's Friday and I'm still waiting. I called again and now they say today or Monday--I'll keep you posted. -- I didn't inhale . . . . . Bill Clinton |
