| slow connection
I started with alltell internet service two days ago with the EC228 EVDO USB modem. My max speed so far has been 430kb. I usually show 2 bars and am constantly switching from DO to 1X. I am 1 to 2 miles from the tower. The alltell techs have only told me they may be working on the tower and have no other suggestions. Can some one offer suggestions before I cancel my service. |

Buffalo, NY | Swap it out for a UM150 , I am having sorts of customers bitching about EC228 performance , A few have gone and done the swap and are very happy now

Dump Alltel while you can. They talk a good game but their service has a lot to be desired. We have suffered with 200 kpbs Alltel "Broadband" and Roaming on our phones 2 miles from their tower now for 6 months. Their answer for our misery.....the terrain. |

After posting earlier today I took my laptop outside on the porch and got 4 bars and the DO locked in which gave me 700 to a 1000kb. Do I need a booster or would the UM150 be my solution? |

| Sounds like a signal issue . I have had a few customers that have had bad external antenna connections on the EC228 so if you go the Cyfre amplifier - Antenna kit ( $199.95 from Alltel )I would still swap for the UM150
