router problem

OK so back when i was with sympatico i never had a problem with my router. Now that im with shaw my internet will get slow alot everyday or itll just stop working. I tried 3 routers that i have and it does it to all of them and i also tried a direct connection to my modem which is stops doing that problem and works fine. A tech from shaw emailed me and said another tech in thunderbay found a problem with the dhcp in my area. That may be BS im not to sure. Is there anything i can do to fix this? Its really annoying. I tried disabling dhcp when it just my pc online but it still happens. I have a belkin, dlink and linksys. Ill gladly go out and buy a new router if it turns out my router just cant handle the speed. I have the Extreme-i (10meg) Plan. Any tips will be helpful.

a 10/100 router should be fine.
are the lights on the modem going out? updated firmware on the router? what type of modem do you have.

try power cycling your modem that may help.

Ive tryed everything. Im sure its not on my end just cause ive tried 3 routers and eventually they all do the same thing. I have the newest modem from shaw. Its that motorola modem. Ive tryed power cycling, making sure the firmware is up to date, and watched for any lights going out on the modem.

But you have no problems with the computer connected directly the the modem, bypassing the router?

You running any torrent clients?

I had a similar issue last year on Shaw with an old Dlink router.Would slow down and then just stop until a reboot. seemed to only happen once per day. I upgraded to a new Dlink Dir-655 and have been very impressed with the speeds. Not sure if this helps any but good luck anyways.

I went out today and bought a buffalo airstream and it was working fine but now its doing what my other 3 routers are doing. The internet will work fine for awhile then the internet will go just dead. This is driving me mad. Can someone tell me what the settings should be on the router for shaw. Such at MTU etc.

when your net craps out, is it just browsing, or all services? What happens if you try to ping out while you seem unable to do anything else?

Im beginning to think its my network adapter.marvell yukon. My net just stops working then starts by itself or i just shut my card off then on. I connected through my router and straight to the modem and it still does it.
