It should work, as long as the 2wire modem allows its pppoe bridge interface to use the wireless option, as well as LAN.
Easy way to test it with a laptop.
Disable the DHCP/Routing settings on the 2Wire modem, but leave wireless on. Connect to the 2Wire modem via WiFi, and you will not get an IP address.
Create a PPPoE session in software on the laptop, whether in XP/Vista, or other software. If the PPPoE connection succeeds, then your proposed setup should work. -- ,,!,,('-'),,!,, |

| reply to HiVolt I've tried it with the wireless with no success. I've tried it with a cable plugged into the router with no success.
I might be doing something wrong, when I create my pppoe connection, I cannot choose which ethernet card I want to use. BTW is there a better pppoe client than the one that comes with windows xp ?
I've checked the configuration of the tomato firmware and when it is set to wireless bridge, the router cannot be used as a pppoe client.
For anyone who reads this, it's not a possible thing to do ! |
