[TWC] Host computer faster speeds

I have a friend with two computers both are running Vista. The host computer has speeds of around 4-5 megs, but the other computer is only getting about 700-800 kbps. Would the router be the problem?

Is the slower computer wireless? 802.11b perhaps?

Can you connect it via an ethernet cable like your other computer and test it?

I'm sure that can be done. The computer is in another area of NC, but I'm in touch via e-mail. Do you think that could possibly be the problem and hardwiring the wireless connection would fix the problem.

It's possible. Hardwiring it in will tell you two things:

1) Is it a wireless network issue?

or

2) Is it an operating system configuration issue?

Once we know that, we can narrow it down further.
