I haven't seen a post for this yet. But I haven't done my research. So if its a repeat, I am sorry.
Okay, I did my research on Warhammer at the same time I was doing my research on AoC...back when they were announced. AoC has sense hit the market. People are complaining about the breast sizes begin reduced...*lol. When I was doing my searching, I found that both games are supposed to be PvP based. Seems to have proven true with AoC.
When I read up on War (long ago), the quests even have a PvP twist to them. Not only that, but it seems that this is going to be another en masse PvP style game. Am I mistaken? And what other news has come up with this game? I am ?intrigued? *spelling* by both AoC and War. Anyone care to elaborate on my shortcomings? |

The greatest thing warhammer online has going for it is that it's WARHAMMER, arguably the darkest, bloodiest, grimmest fantasy universe ever created, and makes Lord of the Rings look like roses and rainbows.

Its not Pure pvp, its pvp like DAOC was. You can if you want, and its encouraged..but you can if you choose to not pvp at all in the game. |

I can take a Porsche body and throw it on a VW pan.
The difference here is, they both look the same but drive different. |

| reply to KCP watch the videos from the WAR website. you will learn that there will be PvE zones and PvP zones. also, you will get loot and xp from PvP'ing other people. they will drop equipment and money but not their equipment or money. -- I have come to realize that God doesn't want to hear from me anymore. |

And if it still has the same faults as the DAOC engine - major lag during pvp - I will tune out early. |

1 edit | reply to KCP well, i cannot say much about you guys not wanting to play because of how it looks. that's what kept me away from WoW for the first 2 years or so. i, eventually, started playing about...4-5 months Pre BC. but i will say, i am glad that i did pick the game up.
don't judge a book by its cover. once you open the first few pages, you might find that you enjoy it.
edit: keep in mind, though, i am NOT a fan of the cartoon graphics. but, i will play it. going on...2 1/2 years of WoW now. |

People complain about bad games. But the reason they are bad is because they care more about graphics than gameplay. Developers are learning that.
I would much rather play a fun game with lousy graphics than a mediocre game with excellant graphics. |

Gameplay is what keeps me playing, not eye candy graphics. Take Crysis for example, awesome graphics but meh gameplay. Played it once and that was it. Now look at Day of Defeat (old school), I can play that game days on end! And it is still installed on my machine. Thats just one example of a game with sub-par graphics but excellent gameplay. I'll just throw FreeSpace2 into there as well since it is one of my all time favorites. |

| reply to KCP well this should slam the car door on the balls of many Warhammer fans....
»www.massively.com/2008/07/11/mar···-online/ In the latest of an ongoing series of interviews with MMORPG.com, Mythic Entertainment VP and General Manager Mark Jacobs has dropped big news on the Warhammer Online fanbase: major features are being culled from the game in order to make their Fall launch deadline. In short, the capital cities for the Dark Elf, High Elf, Orc, and Dwarf factions will not be in the game at launch. The Human city of Altdorf and the Chaos Inevitable City will be the only Capital cities in the game. This is an enormous change, seemingly changing much of what we know about the game's core of RvR gameplay.
Additionally, four classes are being removed, deemed to be in a condition unsuitable for launch. They are:
* The Choppa (Greenskin) * The Hammerer (Dwarf) * The Blackguard (Dark Elf) * The Knight of the Blazing Sun (Empire)
As the website notes, all of these are melee classes and two of these were intended to be the primary tanking classes for their race. This leaves the Empire and Dark Elf races without a dedicated tanking career, possibly limiting their contributions to end-game PvE content. Jacobs moved immediately to try to curtail the obvious rumor-mongering: "This has nothing to do with EA ... they had zero input in this ... They don't even know about it. It's not a discussion we would have with them."
so with the inevitable WoW expansion coming, they will go and release an unfinished MMO just to make their target date in early fall. these companies need to learn you cant do this anymore, if WoW has done anything good for MMO gaming its made players expect a polished game at release. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

i liked Warhammer: Dawn of War and never played any tabletop games, but this game looks pretty dull. the GFX look to be sub-par at launch, missing 4 classes and 2/3 the RvR, plus EA as a backer = no thanks. i'd go with AoC if i really wanted another MMO. |

| reply to KCP Looks like I am stuck with WoW, Guild Wars and AoC for my MMORPGs now.
My AoC finally finished updating after (literally) 4 days of updating the content. As soon as I am off of work tonight, I am going to try it out. -- "To trudge: the slow, weary, depressing yet determined walk of a man who has nothing left in life except the impulse to simply soldier on." -Geoffrey Chaucer, A Knight's Tale, 2001 |
