A high-speed/res webcam may be too much for the interface (in fact, Belkin does warn about this), however, I have heard folks with standard web cams who claim it can handle them all right.
It is not exactly a high speed solution, for example, throughput times on my USB 2.0 external drive are slower than a direct USB connection to the computer, but for file back up and such, or watching a video, it is sufficient.
