weather channel purchased by nbc universal!!!

"As expected, NBC Universal, Bain Capital and The Blackstone Group have signed a definitive agreement to acquire The Weather Channel properties from Landmark Communications. Continuing to be based in Atlanta, the network will be operated as a separate entity, with NBC Universal providing management services.

The transaction, terms of which were not disclosed, encompasses The Weather Channel Networks; the Weather Channel Interactive, which includes weather.com, the nation’s leading weather Web site and a mobile business; and Weather Services International, a global leader in weather forecasting, with more than 5,500 clients worldwide.

The deal is expected to be completed by year-end, and is subject to customary regulatory approvals."

So what does this mean for the weather channel, Will it be merged into NBC Weather plus, what does everyone think?

Good, maybe this will be the end of TWC.

This could mean the end of NBC Weather Plus possibly, but also likely means you might see NBC use the Weather Channel brand during NBC News weather segments, like on the Today show. Just a guess.

That would be my guess. The article I read last night about it said that they will run it as a separate entity. But the name recognition of the Weather Channel as compared to Weather Plus is unmatched. I would expect you will see anything weather related on NBC programming coming from TWC, including MSNBC, etc...

Nobody will get Fired.
They might call one channel Weather News that just Weather Coverage 24/7 and the other something else that has programs like when Weather changed History,Forecast Earth and so on like Weather Movies and others or give Weather Plus back to the local NBC Stations to own.

I wonder what's going to happen with the partnership WCBS-TV in DMA 1 has with TWC...

Death to TWC! Why? Number of days it was to rain in the last 90 (per TWC) - 75. Number of days it rained - 5. Result - Epic Fail

And do we realy need TWC, Weatherscan Local (only on digial cable, Analog Ch. 120?!?) Weather Plus (HD Only), TWC HD, All this on top of I think we have 2 other Weather only local HD feeds.

Oh yea, and most of the time, they are ALL WRONG.
So, can we do way with some some these, mabey open up some room for a few HD feeds, by mabey pushing two Analog feeds into digial at channel 120 where Weatherscan Local is?
