It is a free lease; you simply pay the shipping and handling and one time CA modem use tax. With that we warranty the modem for the life that you have the service. dslx_gm Premium,VIP join:2002-12-26 Winnetka, CA	Those are two separate items. The item you are referring to is the SSR which is $2.88 per month. For the modem it is a free lease with a $30.00 instant modem rebate. It is therefore $30.00 plus CA modem use tax of $2.48 with an instant rebate of $30.00. The net effect is a one time CA modem use tax of $2.48.
