I don't know about your area specifically, but, here, St. Vincent de Paul Society does a wonderful job taking in donated cars. They give them to a program for kids at the County BOCES schools trying to learn the automotive repair trade, and the cars are then given (after fixed) to underprivileged families who are struggling without transportation. Full tax credit, fast pickup. No hassles.
