i know what the issue is . i've had it happen twice and charter_hsd has fixed it easily, by contacting the ip engineers at the hub. the last time that it happened they rolled out 3 trucks and the supervisor finally said if ya can get your guy online to fix it give it a try, cuz they can't contact engineering and it has to be fixed at the hub. and some irc servers have very little security but others have what is best described as a double gate system. you can get in the first gate, the irc net admin can see you join but that is as far as it goes if the block of ip's has not been recorded .You will not be able to go any further if the irc servers ping does not return a pong . the server sees you as an open proxy . this is a message from the last time i had this issue , and will confirm that in fact it is an issue: quote: 37w5d : 2007-10-16 18:48:28 : From charter_hsd
Yep. The problem is reverse DNS. What IP address are you are pulling via DHCP? If you reply with your address, I'll ask the local engineers to set up Reverse DNS.
Regards.
and yes ip's change all the time and most are smooth.but they are releasing new ones and if they are not properly recorded and you get one and are an irc user this happens . it has no affect on surfing or email . |
