Macca, glad you found the key. But get a spare soon. Check around with your local locksmiths. My Grand Cherokee has those keys with the security chip in them. Dealer wanted $129 for the key and $60 for the programming. That's nearly $190 for a single key! And I needed two, one for wife plus one spare. I found a locksmith when I was living in GA that made and programmed a key for $30. All he asked was proof of ownership of the vehicle. -- Everyone must be short on business. Now they're all minding mine. |

| I need two also, one for my dad (he lives with me, and one for a spare. I think I can get away with teh VALET key's for both, s it's ONLY $135 plus programming, but it's still EXPENSIVE . Especially when I'm used to paying under $3.00 for a house key.
If I remember correctly, when I had my 85 Jetta (2 cars ago) I wanted the pretty filagree logo key, and it cost like $20 or something, and I balked at that....... (or was it the 84 Rabbit GTI?).
Maybe I can find someone who can cut them, I haven't looked in several months. MAybe by now they can..... --
Mom and Crockett...... I miss you both! |
