Newsgroup Download Speed

Hi. I am another soon to be FORMER Verizon user. My DSLX account is pending, my e-mail is working fine with Mozilla Thunderbird & I have access to the news servers. Problem is, they run very slowly with Forte Agent--MUCH slower than I am accustomed to seeing. Is there something in my settings that I might be missing? Thank you.
