one of the guys in the same swa hut (southwest asia hut) had a copy of hellgate london that he was tired of. so he let me borrow it. i saw that there was a pre-release thread about the game that i gandered at and tried to reply on.
who here has played and what do they think? i am TRYING to play, but the bugs on this game are starting to irritate me.
being at work, i cannot download the patches to fix the graphics errors. does anyone know if they actually did fix the errors or no?

i only played MP. was worth it to kill time for $20 since i got friends playing. it's mindless killing. almost all of the game can be soloed until late in the game. i play with a free account so i dont have access to the advanced instances but it's fun to play a few times a week. thing that sucks is that your skill tree matters a LOT when lvling but you cant redo it without spending more gold than most non-50's have. theyre expensive even for most 50's...
this means people reroll the same toon 2, 3, even 4 times just to change their skills layout 10, 5, even 1 point. stupid, IMO.
BTW i enver played diablo and dont care for hack n slash games.

Hellgate is just mindless killing. I'm just goofing around on it making chars left and right just to satisfy my need to kill mobs and grab loot.
There's a 1.3 patch and a 2.0 on it's way with some great changes, might roll a guardian since they'll allow 3 auras at once in 2.0
Other than that, I felt cheated paying full price for the game. Should have waited until it dropped to $29.99.
I'm just building an Elite MM and pumping all my points into stamina, then modding as many on hit effects as I can for shits'n giggles. Added with Multi Beacon and Multishot, and Ravenger Rounds. might be fun.
Definitely not a sub nor do I plan to. |

i have a NME Guardian at lvl 32. i skipped most of the NMN quests so i could hit elite asap, only to find out that the instances dont scale to player level. now i'm stuck trying to kill lvl 39-41 mobs to further the main questline. i can barely solo a single mob, let alone grps on 3-6. i started backtracking and doing old elite quests, but i finished every one of em. also started farming XP and still only gotten 2 levels total.
so i started a MM. like lvl 10 now lol. i only play casually when TF2 is dead and im tired of World in Conflict and Quake Wars. Or when all my friends are partying playing alts around my lvl. doesnt make a good primary game, therer's just not enough content and you literally repeat the same exact content 3-4 times. not to mention there's only maybe 10 total different instance level designs, so no matter what instance you're in, youve seen it before.

I remember when this game was touted as the "WoW killer". Same with Age of Conan. Its amazing how far these recent MMORPGs have fallen. Don't get me wrong, I am not a WoW fanboy. I just wish one of these MMORPGs would come out and give WoW a run for its money.

Hellgate isn't even an MMO in my book. The real problem I have with hellgate is that neither the singleplayer is too good, nor is the multiplayer component. They should have focused on one or the other. There isn't enough to the multiplayer that really sets it above anything else, and the singleplayer is a joke because of the elements that were changed to make the game a multiplayer game. They really dropped the ball IMO. I feel sorry for anyone that paid for the lifetime subscription to hellgate. What a total rip-off.

After the EQ 2 debacle I think Blizzard will milk WoW for as long as they can. They haven't even started working on WoW 2 and probably won't until 2-3 more expansions have come out. |
