Re: Rapidshare really slow

this was listed when you click news: we limited the maximum download speed for free‐users to 500 kilobit per second, as seen here under July 2nd: »rapidshare.com/news.html. that works out to be about 75 kilobYtes downloading. so it does not seem temporary unless theres some kind of outcry

Thanks for posting that link slow
That just sucks. I imagine there will be an outcry because there are a lot of people who rely on the free users for downloads to get their rapidshare points.
I won't be using rapidshare for anything now but the smallest of files.

Shouldn't it be time to rename themselves as "SlowShare" ?

I get nothing because I am a free user/
I used to get thanked for using their uploads because they got the points.
Now why would I bother. I went from uploading a couple of hundred files a week to 1 in the last few days.

Yeah, not sure what you're trying to say either.

If you're the one uploading files all the time then why aren't you using a collectors account and gaining points for your uploads? That way, you could generate points for free premium accounts every month and not have to deal with the slow speeds.

As for mediafire.. yeah, why would anyone want to use that? Just to be nice? No, things don't work like that. With rapidshare, uploaders have an incentive to host there. Not so with mediafire.
