I think what would really advance PC gaming (and gaming in general) is the advent of light-weight low-cost head-mounted displays. Of all the advances made in computing, the monitor is the one area that has lagged behind everything else, in terms of performance. The gaming experience is completely centered around the display. Everything, where you play, how you play, is totally tied to a device that has only seen evolutionary changes, nothing revolutionary. If you could make the viewing device portable, while still covering the same kind of field of view as provided by a large screen, you could unleash a huge potential for gaming advancement.
there is something SIMILIAR to this on skymall. i was flipping through one of their magazines while coming back from japan and also seeing the same product on my way here to kuwait. there's a 'glasses' type monitor that you can hook to your computer that gives the display of a ?"52? screen. i could be wrong on the deminsions. but supposidly, it works with games, namely, WoW. WoW was the game that they named specifically. so we are coming closer and closer to the age of head-mounted displays. just not there yet.
