when the wireless fails - do PCs connected by wire work OK? If not, perhaps your w-router is occasionally failing to renew its DHCP from your ISP. If it is DSL with PPPoE, that can be a problem with some crummy w-routers.

Buffalo is essentially the same internals as Linksys.
