| Re: My server setup I host website for local bands and non-profit places, like the library, and my school. Some of it is for SQL, the library, outsources there SQL server to my place, so all there data for checking books in and out can be somewhere safe, and they don't have to manage it. But mostly websites are what i host. And some of it is just for tinkering around with. I started really getting into website hosting when I turned 15, I host a lot of private game servers for kid in my school | |

| I have one comcast residential connection, one DSL connection from NHVT.net, and a fiber optic connection to NHVT, which is about 400 yards from my house. I attached pics of the fiber splice case. My dad is really good friends with the owner of NHVT. So he ran some fiber over to my place, and in return, some of his servers are in my house. | |

I don't pay all that much, the server racks where surplus, routers from ebay and from the tech collage, when they re did there entire network, servers are mostly secondhand some from ebay, others from ebay.

That would personally be my biggest concern. Otherwise, you have a very cool setup

@comcast.net | Re: My server setup No, I dont have a sump pump at all, I am takeing the already very low risk of water damage. We live on top of a hill, and all the water goes around us. Plus the basement has never flooded for the lifetime of the house, as i know it.

| Re: My server setup It comes with the comcast triple play, so i think to get that deal we need to hold on to it, ether way it helps, i have the three internet connections load balanced, via an F5 Big-IP Appliance. The fiber connection handels all the web servers, and the dsl connection does game servers + sql servers + vpn + ftp etc. and the comcast connection isent set to allow or deny any traffic. | |

| Re: My server setup i have the power supply for the node(big black thing, 90volt output? really heavy, looks like it goes in a rack or box or something), it is sitting on my work bench right now, and i have some of those fiber modulator things(big Grey, rack mountable), that convert the video/audio into the fiber optic signal(i think it uses some type of DWDM to encode the signal). Then from the node, i have some of that hard line stuff, that goes to a line extender, which is like a big silver thing just like the node, forcept smaller. then from there more hard line, then to an 8 port Motorola tap, then on the tap there is a terminator thing on the output side. and connected to the tap, i have a tv, set to channel 10, and i am not sure how to get the audio/video thing to come up on the tv, and i am pretty sure the node works. BTW, the input for the fiber modulator thing is an xbox, lol. | |

| Re: My server setup nah, it is running out behind my house then over along the stone wall, they are like right next to me, so it is just running thought some of that Orange fiber protector tube, the fiber is pretty tough, so i am not really worryed about anything happeing to it, it is udnerground like 7 inches up until the stone wall, then it surfaces, for a couple yards, then goes back under to there place, then surfaces then thougth a little hold in the cement on the side of the house. -- -- Paul A.
