Desktop wireless slow, laptop fine?

acumanoz join:2008-07-05	Desktop wireless slow, laptop fine? I have a desktop computer and it has a super slow download. But my laptop thats only a few feet away gets full speed? I scanned the desktop for virus, installed a new wireless adapter, ran winsock fix and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Most laptops have superior built-in dual antennas with diversity that can deal with multipath. Most desktops have their one lousy antenna stuck behind a bunch of metal. Get a better antenna with a few feet of coax so that you can better locate it or get a USB adapter with a USB extension. -- Strange as it seems, no amount of learning can cure stupidity, and formal education positively fortifies it. -- Stephen Vizinczey
