Motorola DCT2224 - do i need to subscribe for this to work?

Motorola DCT2224 1661 ACDEGK Digital Cable box

its older model

Can i still watch regular channels through this thing or do i need to call Shaw and Subscribe for channels to work and come in?

You need to subscribe - and they will not add a 3rd party DCT into their system anymore.

oh that sucks

i just sold it to someone for $30.00 on Craigslist

but i wanted to help the person get it working properly

Can't they at least use it to get channels?

No.

You can use the cable box as an "analog tuner" meaning it can see the same channels as your TV can. Thats pretty much it. No Program guide or digital channels

If it was originally bought from Shaw or an authorized shaw dealer, then the box can still be activated just call their technical support line.
