Cant display over coaxial with hdmi cable connected???

Since I connected the HDMI of my 8300HD cable box to an LCD. While the lcd input is selected to HDMI the picture displays correctly on both the tv amd the lcd monitor, however when I change the input source back to vga for pc error the following error displays on my tv:

Your TV does not allow display of this through the DVI input source. Please choose another input source.

Any suggestions to solve?
