| How do I figure out comcast's packages? Not very intuitive.
Looking at comcasts website they list channel lineups for the following:
Limited Family Tier Digital Starter Digital Preferred Plus Digital Preferred Digital Premier Standard Service
Problem is, when you look at these channel line-ups Preferred Plus, Preferred & Premier all show the exact same channels. That doesn't make any sense, I thought there were tiers of service?
When I try to price these different offerings all I see is digital starter and digital preferred plus. Neither of these list a channel line-up so I can see what channels go with each package.
How does one figure out what they are getting or is comcast just another disheveled company selling a hodgepodge of products that don't make any sense? |

| Digital Starter doesn't include that many channels. It's more like having Standard Service, but with a step top box.
Digital Preferred includes all the channels, except premium channels (such as HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, The Movie Channel). It also includes the 45 music channels.
Digital Preferred Plus is Digital Preferred but with HBO & Starz.
Digital Premier is digital preferred plus all 5 premium channels.
Standard Service is Comcast's Full Analog service. No digital box, roughly 100 channels - all analog.
Limited Service is about 15-20 analog channels. No digital box.
Family Tier is Limited Service with family channels like Disney, ABC Family, etc. -- www.rr.cx | YourIP.US |

| reply to roveer Rob is right, but here is the list in order from limited to full.
Limited Family Tier Standard / Digital Starter Digital Preferred Digital Preferred Plus Digital Premier
Standard cable and Digital Starter are the same things (in my area), but Digital Starter comes with a box. You get access to On Demand as well as the music channels. |

| reply to roveer Wow, how'd you guys figure this out? Website doesn't expressly list what channels go with what packages (at least the part of the web site I was looking at). Now, where is the pricing for all of this, because on the website they only have 2 packages listed. Why do I have to go hunting for this information? Granted I'm already in a bad mood about poor picture quality on several channels, and the fact that they are moving clumps of analogs to digital every few months. Maybe this is somehow making it more difficult for me to see their website. I don't think that's the case since the "channel linups section" would seem like the place to look for what channel is with what packages, but all the digital Preferred plus, preferred & premier list the same channels (including mispelling preferred as perferred, nice touch. And the "shop comcast, digital TV" would seem like the place to see what TV packages are available, but they only list 2" So what's an angry guy like me supposed to do. I'm petrified to call comcast becuase I just know my experience will probably be worse than the website, but I guess I'm going to give it a try.
Excuse my anger, The Dishwasher repair guy left the house today and it's still broken. 4th trip, dishwasher is 1.5 years old and it's been broken since March. What's a guy to do... Forums=Therapy

Roveer In some markets, Comcast does not make the channel line up page very user friendly, which makes it hard to see what channels are available with what package.

allow me to concur with the original poster; i've long reviewed comcast's cable tv package options on their web page & frequently thought "they're not telling me anything, there's no info of value here".
from my experiences visiting the local comcast stores in mechanicsburg, pa & harrisburg, pa----------the words "customer service", "courtesy", and "polite" are not part of their training or vocabulary. i'd much rather sit in my dentist's chair for a root canal than attempt to interact with comcast staff in a brick & mortal store. since that experience is so negative, perhaps the comcast web guys could boost up the user-friendly scale of web-based info. bub |
