[TWC] changes to channel packages 6-30-2008

Last October I made changes to my TW bill. At that time, I had basic, digital-family, HBO, basic-HD and DVR service as well as a second (non DVR) box. I also had RR standard. I wanted to upgrade RR to Turbo and have Digital Phone installed and called to cancel the second CATV box so as to free up some money to pay for the Phone. The rep informed me that it would cost me just a little more to simply add Digital Phone, and that Starz! would come with the deal. So I did it, and my bill went from $122 to $135/mo, and I was fine.

Since then, TW has realigned the channels, and added some channels, and my service has gone unaffected for about 9 months now. As of 6:00am today I was watching NickTOO to stay awake before picking my girlfriend up from work (she works 3rd). When I got back home, not even an hour later, I was informed with a silent image on the screen to call a CSR to activate the channel. I know NickTOO is an extra channel available in an additional-cost package to Digital cable, but up until now it has indeed been on. So has Fine Living, DIY, and a few others that I now pay $5/mo more for.

So I called TW and the CSR had no explanation, only that I shouldn't have gotten these channels in the first place. I had him add the package (+$5), and while I was at it, I had Starz! removed (-$6), which makes my bill now $1/mo less. I don't know how or why I had those other channels before, but I do want that NickTOO channel and with Boomerang as part of the package I think it's worth another $5- once I've watched a few Looney Tunes of course.

So this post is really just for info to those in the NEO division.

TW has this problem where they give you all the channels as the box isn't programmed yet. At one time I was getting all the movie channels for free. I called when I lost them and they said you will receive all channels until they enter the order in the system after the install.

Another TWC customer waiting for U-Verse. Can't wait for the day I drop the crap in their office.
