| Allow me to recommend Titan Quest & Sacred 2
I'm excited about the Diablo3 news and actually started playing. Sacred2 is coming out soon and I always loved Titan Quest. It's an amazing game and $20 for the gold version is a sweet deal.

Titan Quest Gold (original + expansion) is only $20 on STEAM. It's one hell of a nice looking Disable style game - regarded as the best Diablo2 clone that was ever made.

If you start playing Titan Quest, all development on it is dead (Iron Lore is gone). There is a great fan based patch that fixes a lot of issues with the game, mainly stats on items and drop rates:

The Expansion introduced a "rubberbanding" bug with the game, where the game freezes for a short while and then goes into turbo mode catching back up. It's a coding issue and it doesn't matter how good your hardware is. It doesn't happen to everyone (a mystery). Iron Lore funding was cut off before they were able to fix it. Two things that help for a lot of people:
A) turn the mini-map off. There is a little button in the top right corner that makes the mini map double sized or turns it off
B) Delete all the intro videos.

Deleting all the intro videos is a good thing to do anyway. The game almost instantly loads to the menu when you do this. |

I loved Titan Quest.
Be sure to teleport back to the earlier levels and replay them to boost the experience levels before moving on. As a warrior you can whack the enemy clean across the screen, or drain hords of them as a life leech.

WOW 20 DOLLARS?! Holy shit. I thought I got a great deal getting them together for around 50 dollars (around 8-14 months ago though! Somewhere in there).
It is a great game and thanks a ton for that information. I definitely get that slow down/speed up thing and have always wondered why.

i have to agree with the OP.
Titan Quest is one of my favorite games to date. In fact I enjoyed it more than Diablo 2.
If you like Diablo style hack-n-slash and you have someone to play with over the LAN, this game is a must. I played all the way through epic with my wife and we had a blast!
Great graphics, physics, overall game play. Be sure to get the expansion pack or the "gold" version, there are significant improvements over the original Titan Quest. |

I was in Walmart yesterday and saw Titan Quest Gold there also for $20.
I also noticed I must have been drunk when I wrote the original post. How do you mix up "Diablo" and "Disable" ??
