Quite a few times they've been out of stock here. You can exchange the box 10x a day if you like to.

Comcast will do a free truck roll if they are out of stock.... I doubt Cox will do that, however. Maybe if you whine loud enough?

HDMI is basically DVI + audio (both digital) in one cable. Component video is analog. In the end the quality, at least for 720p will be the ssme but I use HDMI cables because there's less bulk, it's easier to connect, and the cables at monoprice.com cost about the same.

I have a big box full of component cables and probably 3 or 4 extra remotes from all the bad boxes I've had to swap with Cox over the years. Oh and the time I lost my remote and stole one from the Cox office... I didn't want to ask how much they charged. I figured if I bought on eBay for $5 its probably a Cox tech selling them out of his van so what's the difference?

Incorrect on the dvr. the HDDVR is $18/month.
the std def dvr is $15/month.

the 3250 is the older HD box[no hdmi outputs]
hdmi is just component with video/audio in one cable.

They gave me a 3250HD but the instructions for a 4240/4250 HDC. I noticed that they have HDMI outputs but the one I got does not. Should I go back and tell them I want the other one. Are they the same cost?

Actually it'll add $9/mo to your bill if you go for the dvr as you get nicked extra there too for hd so in effect you're at what direct tv charges for their hd.
