"Internet status" forum request

I think we need a forum or some other means to post about the status of the internet backbone. I don't know where to go to discus slowdowns affecting different networks etc. I know about sites like internettrafficreport.com and internetpulse.net but no place to discuss this data.

Seems unnecessary to me.

What are you referring to as the internet backbone? If it is what I think you are referring to, namely the companies that provide internet services, then we already have the forums to discuss what you want.

I only think it matters to the site operators, otherwise I don't think it is any of our business.

Well, sometimes there are major site outages (like amazon, youtube etc.) and there is no unified forum to discuss this. If major sites go down, how do we know if it's just our connection or if it's regional based or worldwide etc.?

You can ask such questions in the General Questions Forum. We don't need a special forum to discuss "Is this site down?". If it's regional or worldwide, you'll know soon enough and then you get to wait it out as there's nothing you can do about it anyway.

Every time a major site has been down, I have seen a thread in the general questions forum about it, and most of the time it's even on the mainpage.
