SB5101 Modem - Standby Mode and IP Lease Renewal

Back in mid-March thru early-April there was a thread dealing with the topic that Shaw was going to reflash everybody's modem to disable the Standby button.

I watched with interest at the time, mainly because my dads modem (located in downtown Winnipeg) was reflashed and his standby function was disabled. Meanwhile, apparently, mine (also located in downtown Winnipeg) was never done ... my Standby Button functions up to this very day and I still use it regularly.

So here's the issue ... apparently something has recently chaged in the last week or two. If I put my modem into standby all my green lights on the modem go out and and only the Standby light remains lit. But twice now I've gotten home only to find that both the Standby light is lit AND all the green lights are lit up too.

Also, it seems that if my IP lease (usually good for 3 days) expires while I'm actually in Standy mode, the lease is no longer automatically renewed and I can't access the net or renew the IP lease unless I reboot my PC. This was never the case before.

It's not really a problem for me, just wondering if anybody else noticed this as well or if anybody has any insights as to what might have changed to cause these symptoms.

powercycle your modem, this should bring the new firmware to your modem... or ask shaw to push the firmware to it.

That's already been done ... most recently last night. We'll see if it makes any difference, but I doubt it as the Standby Button has not been disabled.
