| Slow , intermittant connection in Alhambra, CA
hiya, is anyone else in this area experiencing this? It's been going on for about a week.I have a ping monitor and packet loss overlay, and the ping will spike from 80ish to 3000+ every few minutes.I have talked with tech support multiple times, and I have gotten various answers..a known outage in the area, we're working on it, your computer must be broken, there are no problems, just reset your modem.. blah blah blah.So i finally have some one coming out on Friday to check..any advice? |

| I'm also in the Alhambra area and have been experiencing some ridiculous speeds. Every so often, my connection will completely drop. Not to mention reset itself multiple times. Let me know how things turn out for you. I can't take much more of this.

| reply to madparade7 I live in Alhambra too and am experiencing the same problems as you. I've tried calling the first week, spent about an hour on the phone getting transferred all around and got no where at the end. A tech ends up telling me my modem is broken and to go exchange it. I know its not my modem. |

| reply to madparade7 So Charter called me after a few trys with tech support, they tell me the problem has been going on since the 16th, but that have found and fixed the problem. So I log in and it hasn't changed. I have a tech coming tomorrow to check it out.. I'll post the findings... |

| Ok, so the tech came out, real nice guy. He said my signals were a bit high, so he put some kind of amplifier on the splitter. No change. I will call tech support one more time, if they can't help , I'll be cancelling my service. |

| reply to madparade7 I had a tech come out this morning. He made some adjustments to the connection which brought about no change. He said there is a problem with the nodes in Alhambra for a few weeks now. They have techs working to fix this problem. He also said that an amplifier blew out yesterday, so they are working on that problem as well. Aparently they can't seem to locate where the outage currently is. He assured me they are working on it and it should be fixed soon. |

| reply to madparade7 for those of you that have been experiencing problems these past couple weeks, you should check if you have a filter in between the cable line and the cable modem. I've been experiencing the problems people are describing in this thread. The past couple days has been much worse. Everytime i call tech support, each tech tells me a different explanation from my modem is broken to its my router. Anyways, i tried removing the metal filter thing that screws in between the cable line and the cable modem. So i connected the line straight to the modem and it connected right away. Hope this might help someone |

| reply to madparade7 I'm having the same issues here (91770). However, I'm not a Charter costumer (yet?). I'm on a DSL line. The service disconnects and when it is connected it slows to a crawl. I usually recieve 5.6Mbps, but for the last week or so I have been getting 400kbps! Even as I type this the speed is like ISDN.
This may not even be related to your problem since your on a cable line. Thought I would just throw this in. You never know... |
