So what are some fast DNS servers. The one from WOW! are too slow, and the ones I'm using are sometimes slow.
Takes too long to get to a webpage. |

| They block out adult websites it says. That's not cool! Adult site blocking is an optional network feature. |

| They work great for me and avoid redirection that should not happen.
There was a Michigan one I tried and one day it looked like it was hacked. Finally, dumping that DNS had me going again. I do not recall its IP.
As stated 4.2.2.1 4.2.2.2 4.2.2.3 4.2.2.4 4.2.2.5 4.2.2.6 are safe bets.

| reply to The Joker One can always run your own caching DNS server and then forget trying to use some other server. I happen to run BIND on a Linux box at home works just fine. The upside of this is you can assign DNS names to all your home machines as well. I just configure my router to assign my server instead of WOW's.
You can also run treewalk:
»ntcanuck.com/
on a windows box if you want. |

| reply to The Joker Just a question: If I mis-type a URL, is it the DNS server that tries to re-direct my service? Like for example, it tries to redirect me to some kind of advertisement or other type of spam? What DNS servers are good to use that avoids all of this advertistment garbage? |

| well many mistyped URLs are actually bought by domain squatters whose sole purpose is to make money by hoping you click the ads on that page.
OpenDNS is a good DNS to avoid it when there is no purchased URL. it just takes you to a search page which also usually contains the correct url. |
