said by Doctor Olds :There is absolutely no reason, and that was a suggested service add-on pushed on her falsely as a Required Service item that she didn't need and the vehicle didn't require. It may have been different if she had taken the vehicle in with complaints of poor drivability issues but as it is still under warranty it would have gone to the Dealer and not a quick change shop. Fuel System /Injector Cleaning at 20K is just too close to being a theft. Why didn't she call you from the shop? Make her understand to always call before approving any extras in the future. Thanks for your input. The vehicle was performing fine. I drove it the day before. I forgot to mention that the vehicle had been to the dealership recently. At that time, any preventative maintenance that was required was performed.
Why didn't she call? Well, that's a good question and one I asked her myself. The answer wasn't a very good one. If you have teenagers yourself, you'll understand. If not, it's really hard to explain why they do what they do. |

In most cases they want to do something correctly and a smooth talking salesman is careful to not raise any red flags that might induce a call to you. Your daughter probably bought into something and was sold on it thinking you would be impressed with her decision.
In the end I would go down to the shop and offer to install the salesman to a new location somewhere underneath the nearest sewer grate where his type belongs and failing that I would expect a full refund for the un-necessary service.
However since your efforts failed to induce the operator to get-in-line drop your blood pressure and fim there has to be another shop in town it would also be a good follow through for your daughter to learn from.
She needs to learn if bullshit talks her money walks and you can set that example by nevr doing business there.
