Trouble pulling good IP's Comcast with Arris Modem

Hope you techs out there have an idea of what has suddenly happened with my network. I have service thru Comcast. Running an Arris TM6026 Modem with a wireless/wired Netgear WPN824 (G) 4 port Router and a 16 Port Rack 10/100/100 switch. Also, running WPA. OK, here's the issue. Before recent changes, I was running a Linksys G wireless/wired 4 port Router and the switch with no problems. Suddenly, my wireless devices wouldn't connect any more. Replaced Router, replaced switch then had comcast replace modem, hardlined devices worked, wireless still wouldn't. If I set everything to draw IP's automatically, it starts everything from IP 168.192.0.1 instead of 168.192.1.1. If I manually set all the IP's as well as set the DNS Servers on all my network machines, then I can connect to the network and get on the internet. Otherwise, I can only connect to the network with no internet access. The other issue is I have a work laptop that I have no adminstrative rights . I could before the problems, connect thru a proxy by punching in my security key for the wireless or hardlining it. Since I can't change the IP's manually or DNS servers, it will not connect to the internet with or without the proxy. Before there were no issues on connection. Even if I give it a direct hardline connect to the modem (without router, etc) and reset the Modem, it still will not connect. But if I go across the street to my neighbors and hook up on their DSL, I connect with no problems. You guys have any idea? I thought I was pretty good with networking, but this one has me thinking I'm dumb as a rock.

Find out where your DHCP problems are coming from and I bet your issue is fixed. It almost sounds like you have something connected wrong and are somehow getting two DHCP servers running.

Are you trying to use the Arris as your main router, or the Netgear? How is everything connected exactly?

The Arris is a modem only (combo voice/Data). The Netgear router is conected directly to the Arris modem. From the netgear router which is a 4 port wireless, I have 3 hardlines directly to 3 pc's the last port connects directly to a d-link 16 port rack switch. Where I have other pc's as well as network printer, network drive, etc.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks

I am having a similar issue... if I connect cable to the arriss, the netgear to the arriss, and the netgear to the PC I cannot access the internet. If I leave out the netgear it works???

Are you clone-ing the pc's mac address on the modem? Otherwise you have to do a hard reset on the modem to clear the laptop's mac address from the modem.
