| reply to Nightfall Re: Struggling with GIC (Gaming Identity Crisis)
I go through this all the time. I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember. When I started to actually have my own systems, I got into those "I'm bored" phases and still do. I call them my PC and console gaming phases cause I'll only want to play one or the other. Just switch it up, go out and do something and take a break for a bit. The gamer inside will come back to you. |

| reply to sixstring said by sixstring :said by beatsnpieces :If you want a truly memorable PC game experience I would suggest STALKER (provided you dont hit any bugs) and Mass Effect. Company of Heroes is probably the best RTS out there, in all honesty I never got really into it simply because the WWII setting has worn me down at this point, but the gameplay is just awesome and truly innovative for the RTS genre, had it been a modern combat or sci-fi setting CoH would probably be among my top 5 favorite games of all time. If you enjoy dark humour and can dont mind the fact that it looks like a kids game at first glance I would give Psychonauts a try as it is brilliantly written and executed and quite hilarious. Have you tried Dawn of War? It's basically a Sci-Fi COH. :O Actually I haven't, but thanks to you I now intend to do so. Cheers! |

| reply to Nightfall Dawn of War is a awesome game. I really only play against the computer players and there are players out there who like that. I am not a big 1v1 or 2v2 pvp player when it comes to this game. -- My domain - Nightfall.net |

| reply to Nightfall Everyone here is going to laugh when I tell them what has been filling my gaming evenings....but here we go.
Max Payne and Max Payne 2 Yes, you heard it right. I bought them both off steam because I sold my copies years ago. I have really enjoyed these games the last few weeks.
For multiplayer, I am playing Call of Duty 4. Never played it multiplayer before, and firing it up just got my adrenaline pumping. Even my wife will tell you just how much fun I am having with that game. The hardcore settings are ultra realistic. Plus, the single player is a blast! I also like the multiplayer unlockable abilities.
I am still playing eve online a bit, and I have been struggling with the learning curve still. However, it is a fun game.
I am biding my time, waiting for the Warhammer MMORPG to come out in September. Maybe by then I will be ready to come back into MMOs more seriously again. -- My domain - Nightfall.net |

| reply to Nightfall I know what you mean, although I've been playing PC games only since DOS 3.1. I still remember when I played Dune - man, was I hooked!
EVE-Online is the only game that kept me hook for almost three years now. Reason for that is that there's just so much to do and the PvP is so intense that you can keep playing it forever. I did take two breaks though. I started my own corp a few weeks ago and just moved into nullsec, good times.
I also tried AoC and unsubscribed after 2 weeks with my PoM at lvl 55. Grinding sucks, totally.
Mass Effect was a lot of fun though. |

| I know how you feel! I got into a rut where I got tired of certain games and others felt repetitive. I went from playing games all night long to just playing for an hour here and there. I even started watching movies in 30-40min parts (weird I know).
I ended getting out and just doing other things like you said. I back got into mountain biking, reading, hanging with the wife, Wii, etc. Now playing games is more enjoyable. Ill have friends over and well play TF2 for a few hours every now and then. I recently went out a bought a bunch of games (Gears of War, Bioshock, RS:Vegas 2, Crysis) and havent even played 2 of them. On the weekend Ill throw one in and just play for an hour or so. |
