Vonage uses a * code, something like *99 at the front end of the call for fax attempts -- all that does (if I remember right) is to take off any compression you might be using and turn off call waiting during the call.

change the baud to 9600 and also disable error correction. Works great for me and BTW, my vonage adapter is set to maximum compression, no problems, and do not use the *99.
