Re: 'Special Rate'?

I was thinking about switching to the 1 year plan but I saw some verbage that really annoyed me. I'd quote it but Vonage's support site is down. It basically said something to the effect of `although you are prepaying for the year, we may charge you additional tax/fees every month`.

Huh?

I love how these `non-tax/unfee's` can be adjusted and billed to you monthly, even if you are under contract. Seems like Vonage is starting to be a bit like the phone company.

"The phone company" is one of the most financially stable companies around. It creates hundreds of thousands of jobs for US citizens, is a tremendous supporter of charitable causes, generates tons of tax revenues for local governments, and is a positive contributor to millions of retirement plans. By contrast, Vonage is close to going bust.

Discussion topic: If you were running Vonage, and were attempting to assure its long term viability, would you continue to do what you had been doing (which wasn't working so well balance sheet wise), or would you instead try to be more like "the phone company"?
