Sorry, I did not miss it. The 2 situations are different. The US ISP's are volunteering to block these websites. They are not being ordered to by the Government.

Also the US ISP's are not taking arbitrary suggestions from end users like in France.

Lastly the US ISPs are not blocking sites tagged as "Terrorism"

Next time you want to post quick witty reply to a forum post, please actually think before you hit enter.

The end result is the same whether it is "ordered" by the government or ISPs volunteer.

Yet. Give it time. If the real objective was to apprehend kiddie porn purveyors, then why not go after the source instead of wholesale blocking? Pedophiles trade porn via Usenet groups and email. Seems to me that ISP's shouldn't even be in the business of enforcing the law. Isn't that what we have the NSA/FBI and other federal agencies for?

No, the 2 are nothing alike. When the government does it, it ultimately is at the point of a gun; you can go elsewhere when private industry does it.
