| Alowing Attachments in IM/PM's
I can't see a prior request for this feature, but many members PM each other on a regular basis, and it would be nice to be able to include/upload attachments in IM/PM messages.
ANY comments??? -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

| state, Does that mean you need to upload each individual file, then link each one separately to the PM?
I've never tried that before, that's why I ask.
It's just that I might have a gallery of photos to upload at once.
I am just used to the very simple upload process in the Public Forums, and wanted to see if the same feature could be implemented for PM's as well.
I will try your suggestion, but would like to keep this request thread open for other members opinions about such a feature, or at least a 'simplified' feature.
Thanks! -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

| At least Anon posters can't PM, and there can be control of registered users if they are abusing the feature.
Maybe even to add a 'Hey Mods' button to report PM abuse, and send a copy of any offending PM's to a mod. -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

You can do individual file uploads on /sendfile then paste the URL of the item into one or many instant messages. Just like linking to a forum post. |

There are only three (at least that's the word around the office) people on DSLR that can read other user's IMs. As such, they cannot be effectively moderated.
As much as I'd like to easily send a picture to a buddy, I'll accept the round about way I have to do it now as the price to pay for not getting bad pictures in my inbox from disgruntled posters. |

I cannot read any IM's but my own. I've heard this several times recently and I want to correct the misinformation. I would assume justin can see whatever he wants to see, and I do not know what nil can see. -- Female monkeys often utter loud, distinctive calls before, during or after sex.. |

| reply to nil So it's something like reading straight from the backend, no graphical UI.. ugh.
There are even less people than originally thought who could actually moderate these things. so *object* (stronger ) |

| reply to KA3SGM Why do they need to be moderated?
If someone could send the same "insulting/obscene" image/video/mp3 by a link, what's the difference? The recipient sees it once and blocks the sender.
The ultimate would be to be able to drag the item into the IM window. It shouldn't even have to be thought of as a file - it could be an image on another web page dragged straight out of the browser, or out of a local photo library, or iTunes, or... |

| I will admit I've done some pretty bad things in relations to IMs to users. I've cleaned up my act though.
While I know and agree with your moderation views Johnny, we both know DSLR doesn't. Since there is more of an active and hard-fisted moderation team, I don't want to have someone pissed off at me go make up an IM I sent to them and forward it to a mod. Since it seems the only two people who could verify it's authenticity would be nil and justin, both of whom are very busy, I would not want to get warned for something I didn't do. |

| Well, I always tell fighting posters to "Take it to IM", so I don't care what they send each other. They can always block each other.
I'm in no way against moderation - just against locking. The last time I voiced this opinion, the thread was immediately locked. LOL |
