| reply to Icon Re: Westell 610014 as bridge => router
OK - I have it working in bridge mode (thanks to the advice in this thread) but it's not entirely satisfactory as I have no access to the modem stats.
I (currently) have the router addressing in this range: 192.168.1.xxx with the modem set back to being a LAN DHCP server. The modem is presumably still at 192.168.1.1 (as is the router? not sure how that works!) When I type in hxxp://192.168.1.1 I get the router's configuration screens, not the modem's.
My exact Westell modem model is E90-610014-06 Rev C and it was in PPPoE mode following a reset to factory defaults.
I also tried the router addressing at 192.168.2.xxx which also did not give me access to the modem's screens.
So, perhaps I misunderstood - I thought it might be possible in some way to directly access the modem screens through the router. I know I can do it by swapping cables out as long as the modem is still set up as a DHCP server or if I manually configure an appropriate IP address for my network adaptor. So.... is that the only way to do it? |
