Ok so I have the 10MB package with Charter and when I test my speeds on Speakeasy.net/speedtest I get 10 - 14mb down and always 1mb up. The problem I am having is I am getting 300+~ constant latency ingame on any given server. So I tried the tracert us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com idea an it seems im losing packets on a dallas based qwest jump or w/e. Ive called an talked to charter tech support an I even made an attempt to call and talk to Qwest but no one seems to understand what im talking about. My latency used to be 90 - 130ms now its 300+~ ms an spikes to 2k.
This is a tracert with a 2k spike

Please also note that I am losing packets while outside of game as well. I have reloaded OS's reinstalled new NIC drivers, Updated firmware an nothing changes. |

| I do not see you losing any packets. I do see one hop not replying to packets. All hops beyond still reply perfectly, so none are getting lost. If hops beyond the 'bad' hop all showed *s as well, packets would be getting lost.
80 ms from near Jackson TN to near LA is not bad latency. 3900 miles at 60% of the speed of light is 35 ms, so just over half of it is due to network electronics, just under half is due to Einstein. |

@charter.com | Thanks for the response , With just that one server not sending a reply though could it cause my game to freak out an jump from 300ms to 2k+ or even D/C me ? |

| reply to Gentou Uther So far as I know, only the IP at the end is a server, all of the hops in the middle are routers. They seems to be routing well. Are there no WOW servers nearer than Los Angeles?
»www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstat···TCOffset you want CST. Kansas City MO might knock off 60 ms, even Dallas TX would cut pings in half versus LA.
I have never played any online game, but your pings should be about 80 ms in an MS Prompt, same as the TRACERTs. The Ping in the game may well include delays in the game client and in the server application, in addition to the delays in the network shown in the MS Prompt ping.
(is D/C disconnect?) |

@charter.com
| Yes sorry d/c is intended to mean dissconnect.
Ingame ping just recently changed, previously was 90 - 130ms which was in the green now its constant 300ms~+ which is yellow and I am getting a freezing type of activity where it looks like im going to disscounnect but then everything kicks into high gears an its all in fast forward mode. |

| bump still looking for resolve
I called an talked to Qwest who actually owns the area I see the unresponsive packet an he told me that the dallas router wouldnt reply to trace routes no idea if this is ok or not or if he is right or wrong but I did happen to be looking an looking and I noticed my latency alsmot doubles when moving from the Qwest network to the ATT network..
Any other ideas ? |

| reply to Gentou Uther I was thinking I have told him to check for viruses/spyware, told him to switch servers to something more local, debunked his theory that a router that refuses TRACERT is somehow losing packets and he still wants some other advice when it hit me I had not explicitly said "Run AVG 8, and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.5.2 followed by housecall.trendmicro.com" yet.
Now I have. |

| I have ran avg an spybot s&d but just as a side note I reformatted and reinstalled just to be safe. I talked to Charter tech that came to my house an he said there is no other route or switch for me to connect on just the node I was currently attached too.
As far as the servers go, regardless of time zone there is just a cluster housed in a location , ie: 50 servers in cali where 25 may be cst 25 may be pst |

@crackerbarrel.com | reply to Gentou Uther Any how I resolved the issue but dissabling something called "Nagle" , it was a registry mod in the Local Machine I found on the WoW forums.
Latency sits at about 160ms~ now |
