| Problems after a storm
Hi everyone.
Last week we had a pretty bad storm with lot's of lightning. I had everything unplugged, lost one modem already. After the storm passed, fired everything up, internet connected, but when I would try and load my homepage it would seem to stop part way. If I was lucky I could refresh several times and would finally load. I went to a couple of my neighbors and they were having the same problem. We all called tech support and they issued us all tickets. They said a tech would call us the next day or would come by, they never did but I did see them working at the CT box in out community. After that things worked fine. Till last night. Same thing again but we had no storm's. It's been almost 12 hours with very slow speeds. Upload is normal though. Can anyone tell me whats going on? I live in a very small community & im guessing with no more than 25 dsl subscribers. I did call tech support and they opened another ticket.
Also my modem stats differ with my neighbors, they live right next door. Is this normal?
My upload would not produce a image, here are those stat's.

In my modem stat's, whats does Line Mode: not defined Data Path: Interleaved mean? Why does mine differ? |

| reply to jwko Interleaved is a noise profile put on a DSL line to help maintain stable sync if your having a problem, I forgot the exact technical explaination but I think the DSLAM checks for packet loss between you and the DSLAM and frequently results in slightly higher pings and fast path means no correction checking and slightly better pings. I'm not 100% why it would differ I know mine changed once I was switched from ADSL equipment to ADSL2+ but it could also be my different modems I got a new westell lol, basically what it comes down to is not anything to worry about. -- 10,000/768 CenturyTel PPPoE DSL line (really 5,000/768 ) |

| reply to jwko CT sent me a email. "There was a circuit down in your area. If you are still having trouble, call us at 1-800-809-1410".
It's been ok since late this afternoon. I have noticed the Internet light on my 6100 will go red at times. I can still surf though. Most of the time the light is off, sometimes green.
Also, after internet was back to normal, I reset the modem and Data Path is now at Fast. Line Mode is Unknown.
One last question, is it possible to access my Westell modem while connected through a router? Or do I have to connect directly to the modem to access? I use 192.168.1.1 while connected to modem but through router, says "Cant display the webpage" |

I use 192.168.1.1 while connected to modem but through router, says "Cant display the webpage" The only way I was able to access my westell through my modem is change my IP range on my router to something like 192.168.2.1 so I could get to the 192.168.1.1 address on the modem. -- 10,000/768 CenturyTel PPPoE DSL line (really 5,000/768 ) |

I guess the only way would be to connect directly to the modem.
Thanks to everyone for the reply's |
