Re: [Vista] Email question

Definitely try Mailwasher. I've got Mailwasher Pro and I have found it extremely useful for checking all of my online email accounts. You can set the number of lines of the email it downloads to make it run faster and it will highlight the spam and possible spam.

She might also want to think about Thunderbird, using one of the spam filters included. I use that and I have very little spam.

Thank you! I'll point her in MailWasher's direction.

Thanks!

First...in order to delete the e-mail, it will have to be downloaded.
Second...why even check for e-mail if it's going to be deleted ASAP (having no importance of what it is)
Third...what if there was actual e-mail sent that was deleted?

Look at Mailwasher...

quote:
Q. How does MailWasher work?

A. MailWasher works directly with your email server, exactly like your email program does. But there is one important difference: you can tell MailWasher to delete a message at the server, without downloading it - or you can bounce an email back to the sender so that it looks as though your address is not valid.

MailWasher retrieves information about all the emails on the server. With that information (some of which is also processed by MailWasher) you can decide what to do with each individual email - download, delete, or bounce back.

If you check your account with MailWasher first, you can delete or bounce the emails you do not want. Then, when you use your email program, it downloads only the remaining emails, those that you want to read.

MailWasher can be thought of as a "first line of defence" which can weed out junk, large wasteful attachments, and potentially harmful viruses.

Hey a friend of mine is using Vista. I suppose she is using the default mail program in it. She is on dial-up.

She often doesn't check her email for days at a time, and when she does it'll often be mostly spam, stuff she doesn't care about anyway. Once it starts downloading it takes a long time, as you can imagine...

Her question is, is there a way to delete all the mail in the download package, all at once, instead of having to wait on it. A kind of "I don't want to wait for this to download, can't I just delete it all right now?"

Is what she wants doable?

Thanks!
