[Outlook] Uninstall Office 2007 S&TTrial Edition/Reinstall Offic

New laptop (Vista SP1) with Office 2007 Student & Teacher Trial Edition pre-installed. This has not been activated and remove programs shows both Office and Activation Assistant available for removal.

I assume both need to be removed so what is the proper procedure to uninstall without problems? What order, or special techniques if any? Has anyone here actually done this?

I do intend on installing my own copy of Office 2003 S&T after succesful removal of 2007.

Also, I have a backup (copy) of my "outlook.pst" file from old computer and wish to restore it to the default location of the new computer and not quite sure how to do that.

Thanks...

Re: [Outlook] Uninstall Office 2007 S&TTrial Edition/Reinstall O

I have removed the activation assistant and then office successfully.

I suggest you just let outlook create a new .pst file, and then do an import from your old one. I have found that putting the outlook.pst there before install outlook will sometimes create outlook1.pst, and if you just copy your .pst over the one created by outlook it gets confused with the mail deliver location and contacts.

The other thing to do would be to launch Outlook so it can set the mail delivery location, then add another Outlook Data file to the profile, change the mail delievery to the one you just added and then close outlook and remove the one that Outlook just created (the blank one).

If you do that you may also have to change the "contacts" folder that is uses as an address book.

OK, glad I asked because this is confusing already (for me).

Assuming the Office 2007 removal and Office 2003 install is successful, I thought you could just replace the "outlook.pst" file from the new install with the backup "outlook.pst" file from an external drive and be all set except for setting up your mail accounts and options.

BTW, thanks for helping.
