Nero Ultra 8 - Good Deal (buy 1 get 1 free, or 2 free?)

Click for full size
Order shows 1 paid, 1 free -- but I got 3 download links. :)
Yesterday I got in a WD Raptor to replace my dying old system drive and a copy of Vista x64. Been on Vista x32 since launch but never got around to upgrading to Vista x64.

So, I'm doing the OS install and reinstalling everything else - which is like a 3 day event.:p I got to installing Nero 8 again this morning but the dang thing said my license key is expired. It's odd it's expired for an installation but was working fine yesterday on my old system install... So (whatever), I figure maybe it's been a year since I paid, so I went to pay again.

$79 - Nero 8 Ultra
$63 - Upgrade licence (for people with existing keys)

I was very happy to see they have a "buy one get one free" offer going on right now. I need a 2nd copy for my wife's computer so she can easily burn audio CD's anyway.

Funny thing is - I got three different downloads, each with their own serial key. No idea why I got a 3rd copy of it, and none of the old keys match my new ones. Maybe no one else will have the same luck but even the buy one get one free is nice. That's not a common thing for Nero.

Note: My last Nero8 Ultra Download had the license key built in. On the ones I just downloaded the serial key is not built in. It fills in "demo" in the serial key box.

---------

Most of my life lately revolves around scanning old (pre-digital) photo's, capturing old (pre-digital) movies and using Cyberlink Power Director (new version is nice!) and Nero Vision to make DVD's for the family.

I thought the license key never expired for Nero products? I'm still using Nero 7 Ultra Edition and just checked the license key and under expiration it says none. I guess this is something new they started with version 8 or I'm just misunderstanding something here as I often do. Maybe it's because of your new drive and switching to Vista 64, they are considering it a different machine, thus why the old Nero 8 key doesn't work?

Yeah, I'm still using Nero 7 too and mine doesn't expire either. I have 3 PCs (all mine) and I have it on all three and it works fine.

I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition and nowhere does it say anything about license expiring, just that it is Nero 6 and the serial number.

Nero licenses are perpetual (no expiration). Something amiss here.

I don't think it expires - it's just that if you want the new version 8, you're going to have to pay for the upgrade.

Yeah I thought it was for the full major version but I have so many paid for apps I get confused.

Maybe some retard randomly used my serial key somewhere and it got banned from installs.

In any case, I was going to have to buy something for my wife's PC so it's not loss. Maybe the 3rd license was a new key for my original v8 purchase.
